Our main achievements this year have been:
- IIP Gold (Investors in People Gold award)
- The launch of the Aspire programme for future managers
- Health and Wellbeing award
We’ve taken on nine apprentices in the last 12 months. This takes our total count of apprentices since 2010 to 48.
Here’s a case study which demonstrates how by investing in our staff, we get to see great results.
We love to see our staff progressing and developing in their careers, so it’s great to be able to share Richard Green’s story. He started working at Ongo Recruitment in August 2015 bringing lots of sales and recruitment experience with him.
Richard secured a place on the very first Ongo Aspire Programme. This is a programme for future managers of Ongo to learn all the key skills to become a great manager. On this course Richard learnt all about how to be a vibrant manager and adopt the best management practices including coaching, delegation and setting objectives to drive a team forward. Another useful part of the course was ‘how to have difficult conversations which is always extremely useful when taking on a new team.
Richard has shown ambition and the drive to succeed since joining the team, often thinking of new ways to get the best results and keeping the rest of the team energised and motivated. In January the idea of a team restructure was talked about, which would create a managers role within Ongo Recruitment. Richard applied for this and successfully secured the position in March. Since leading the team, Ongo Recruitment has gone from strength to strength securing a number of new contracts and working closely with businesses in the local area to ensure they have reliable and effective staff in place to also enable them to grow their own businesses forward. Ongo Recruitment is a not-for-profit organisation and is very well received by customers who want to also support the local community by us re-investing our profits. This is what makes us different to other recruitment agencies.
